Chinedu Ubachukwu Wins Gulder Ultimate Search Season 11

Chinedu Ubachukwu has emerged winner of the 11th edition of Gulder Ultimate Search.

Chinedu beat the two other finalists Cosy Joe & Afolabi Emmanuel to the ultimate prize by being the only person to complete the final task of retrieving the General’s War Helmet. This victory came after the 24-year-old graduate of Petroleum & Gas at University of Port Harcourt successfully navigated his way through the forest and managed to row his canoe across the heavy currents of Aguleri River.

The other two warriors failed in their bids to get to the mysterious destination across the waters.

With this achievement, the native of Anambra State will exchange the treasure for a whopping N10million and a brand new SUV.

As soon as Chinedu located & retrieved the General’s War Helmet, anchorman Chidi Mokeme inducted him into the exclusive Order of Heroes as the 11th “Ultimate Man”.

The other finalists will get cash prizes for the positions they finished in.

On the other hand, Otto Canon has won the Viewers’ Choice award, thus becoming the proud owner of a brand new SUV in addition to the prize money he gets for being the 3rd runner up.

Samantha Appi, the Last Woman Standing also gets a reward of a brand new 2014 Urban Ford Ecosport SUV in addition to the prize money for being a contestant on the show.

Zambian President Michael Sata dies at 77

The Zambian president, Michael Sata, is reported to have died in London.

Zambian President Michael Sata, who was nicknamed "King Cobra" for his fiery comebacks and larger-than-life personality, has died. He was 77.
Sata had traveled to London for unspecified medical treatment last week, and died at a hospital there Tuesday evening. Officials did not disclose a cause of death.
"It's shocking, it's devastating, because I knew he was sick. But I did not know it was going to end this way," said George Zulu, permanent secretary at the Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "(We) lost a man who devoted his whole life to his country."
Zambian agriculture on the rise
Zambia's colorful art come to life
Succession of office
Vice President Guy Scott has been appointed acting president, said Roland Msiska, the Cabinet secretary.
He will serve for 90 days until elections are held. Scott, who is of Scottish descent, will be the first white president in sub-Saharan Africa since apartheid.
He is ineligible to be elected president because his parents were not born in Zambia, Msiska said.
Absence of leadership
Sata took office in September 2011 after the incumbent president tearfully conceded in a televised speech, a rarity in a continent known for volatile elections and leaders fighting their defeat tooth-and-nail.
Analysts hailed his election as an example of an African nation with a vibrant democracy. But not too long after he took office, speculation swirled over his lack of visibility -- which especially stood out for a man who loves the spotlight.
Aides said his absence was a result of private international visits, and maintained those trips had nothing to do with medical treatment.
The nation's bloggers have frequently criticized what they describe as "absence of leadership," leading Sata to make a surprise appearance in parliament last month and declare that he was not dead.
Political origins
Sata was born in the Zambian town of Mpika in 1936, and worked as a police officer during the colonial administration. He later trained as a pilot in Russia before returning home and helping develop housing projects in the nation.
During Zambia's struggle for independence from Britain, he jumped into politics, and later founded the Patriotic Front -- then an opposition party. His campaign events electrified crowds drawn to his extroverted nature and fight for the average man.
Sata, who narrowly lost to his predecessor Rupiah Banda in 2008, was a major critic of Chinese investment in the nation's copper industry. He especially targeted foreign companies that mistreated Zambian workers, making him popular among the nation's miners who accused the Chinese of deplorable work conditions.
While in office, Sata warned foreign companies that while their investment is crucial to his nation, they must abide by the labor laws.
The veteran politician has served in other positions, including city council, member of parliament and Cabinet minister for local government.
Before his election, the copper-rich nation in southern Africa had been ruled by the same party for two decades.
South African President Frederik de Klerk was the continent's last white President. His party lost to Nelson Mandela's African National Congress in South Africa's first multiracial, fully democratic elections in 1994.
De Klerk took a deputy position in the new government for two years.

Pics: Woman stripped to the waist after being caught stealing by store owner

i thought only African's do the stripping punishment. take a look

A female shoplifter was stripped to her waist by a merciless store owner after she was caught stealing in her store. The shoplifter, 28 year old Yu Chung, went into the store in China's Zhejiang province to buy clothes and stuffed some into her bag without paying for them.

The angry store owner, 39 year old Mei Hsueh, who caught her red handed, descended on her, removed her top to prevent her from running away, then removed her bra and pushed her outside of her store. Of course a crowd gathered to watch, some took photos and shared them online...

"This thief was trying to steal my clothes so I took off some of hers. She'll think twice before she does that again. It was meant to be a warning to all those thieves out there to show them that not all shops are a pushover." the store owner said
The police was eventually called and Yu was taken away. She has been charged with theft but no action was taken against the shop owner.

Happy birthday to plane crash victim, Kechi Okwuchi

Beautiful Kechi Okwuchi is one of the only two survivors of the Sosoliso plane crash that occurred in December 2005. It's been almost 9 years since the accident and even though it's not been easy, Kechi is living her life and loving it through the mercy of God! Today, she marks a milestone, she's 25 year old! Happy birthday, Kechi. Wishing you many more beautiful years ahead.

Kechi's life changed forever in 2005 when she just 16. She and 60 other schoolmates from Loyola Jesuit College, a boarding high school in Abuja, boarded a Sosoliso plane headed to Port Harcourt for the Christmas holiday...but 20 minutes to landing, something went terrible wrong. The plane crashed and Kechi lost all her friends. She survived but was badly burnt. But that hasn't stopped her from living. She's a senior at the University of St. Thomas, a private Catholic college in Houston, Texas, USA. Happy, birthday once again Kechi. Keep inspiring!

A Dallas nurse who caught Ebola while treating a Liberian patient who died of the disease has received a plasma transfusion donated by a doctor who beat the virus.

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas nurse who caught Ebola while treating a Liberian patient who died of the disease has received a plasma transfusion donated by a doctor who beat the virus.
Ebola has killed more than 4,000 people in an outbreak the World Health Organization has called "the most severe, acute health emergency seen in modern times." Federal health officials say they are ramping up training for medical workers who deal with the infected.

Nurse Nina Pham was among about 70 staff members at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital who cared for Thomas Eric Duncan, according to medical records. They drew his blood, put tubes down his throat and wiped up his diarrhea. They analyzed his urine and wiped saliva from his lips, even after he had lost consciousness.
The 26-year-old nurse was in his room often, from the day he was placed in intensive care until the day before he died.
Pham and other health care workers wore protective gear, including gowns, gloves, masks and face shields — and sometimes full-body suits — when caring for Duncan, but Pham became the first person to contract the disease within the United States. Duncan died on Wednesday.
On Monday night, members of the church that Pham's family attends held a special Mass for her in Fort Worth. Rev. Jim Khoi, of the Our Lady of Fatima Church, said Pham's mother told him the nurse had received a transfusion that could save her life.
"Her mom says that she got the blood from the gentleman, a very good guy. I don't know his name but he's very devoted and a very good guy from somewhere," Khoi said.
Jeremy Blume, a spokesman for the nonprofit medical mission group Samaritan's Purse, confirmed that the plasma donation came from Kent Brantly, the first American to return to the U.S. from Liberia to be treated for Ebola. Brantly received an experimental treatment and fought off the virus, and has donated blood for transfusions for three others, including Pham.
"He's a doctor. That's what he's there to do. That's his heart," Blume said.
Brantly said in a recent speech that he also offered his blood for Duncan, but that their blood types didn't match.
Khoi said Pham's mother assured him the nurse was comfortable and "doing well," and that the two women had been able to talk via Skype.
Pham had been monitoring her own temperature and went to the hospital Friday night with a low fever. She was in isolation and in stable condition, health officials said.
Since she tested positive for the disease, public-health authorities have intensified their monitoring of other hospital workers who cared for Duncan.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden said he would not be surprised if more fall ill because Ebola patients become more contagious as the disease progresses.
Pham's name appears frequently throughout the hundreds of pages of medical records provided to The Associated Press by Duncan's family. They show she was in his room Oct. 7, the day before he died.
Her notes describe nurses going in and out of Duncan's room wearing protective gear to treat him and to mop the floor with bleach.
She also notes how she and other nurses ensured Duncan's "privacy and comfort," and provided "emotional support."
Frieden has said a breach of protocol led to the nurse's infection, but officials are not sure what went wrong. Pham has not been able to point to any specific breach.
The CDC is monitoring all hospital workers who treated Duncan and planned to "double down" on training and outreach on how to safely treat Ebola patients, Frieden said. He could not provide a number of health care workers under surveillance.
Health officials have relied on a "self-monitoring" system when it comes to U.S. health care workers who care for isolated Ebola patients. They expect workers to report any potential exposures to the virus and watch themselves for symptoms.
Besides the workers, health officials continue to track 48 people who were in contact with Duncan before he was admitted to the hospital and placed in isolation. They are monitoring one person the nurse was in contact with while she was in an infectious state.
None has exhibited symptoms, Frieden said.
Among the things the CDC will investigate is how the workers took off protective gear, because removing it incorrectly can lead to contamination. Investigators will also look at dialysis and intubation — the insertion of a breathing tube in a patient's airway. Both procedures have the potential to spread the virus.
Duncan, who arrived in the U.S. from Liberia Sept. 20, first sought medical care for fever and abdominal pain Sept. 25. He told a nurse he had traveled from Africa, but he was sent home. He returned Sept. 28 and was placed in isolation because of suspected Ebola.
Officials said there was a dog in the nurse's apartment that has been removed to an undisclosed location for monitoring and care. They do not believe the pet shows any signs of Ebola. A dog belonging to an infected Spanish nurse was euthanized, drawing thousands of complaints.
Ebola has killed more than 4,000 people, mostly in the West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, according to WHO figures published last week.

Gays have gifts and qualities to offer the church - Vatican

The Vatican has asked for gay men and women to be given a chance in the catholic faith as they have gifts and qualities to offer the church. This call was made in a document released yesterday October 13th by the Vatican after a week-long Synod (Council of a church, usually convened to decide an issue of doctrine,) attended by about 200 bishops, who deliberated and came up with the resolution contained in a document which is known by its latino name "relatio",
"Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer the Christian community: are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a further space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a Church that offers them a welcoming home," the document read..
The document also asked the Church to challenge itself to find 'a fraternal space' for homosexuals without compromising Catholic doctrine on family and matrimony.

How to Maintain a Healthy Life Style

How to Maintain a Good and Healthy Life Style

    1

Emphasize fruits and veggies. A healthy diet is one that's full of vitamins, nutrients, and color (well, in addition to being balanced). And the easiest way to do this is through piling on the fruits and veggies. They're nutrient dense but not calorically dense -- meaning you can eat bunches and bunches without destroying your waistline and it's good for you. And, of course, the fresher the better!

    2
Drink up the H2O. If you're looking for a miracle on Earth, water is the closest you'll probably get. Stay hydrated and just about every part of you will stay healthy -- your skin, your hair and nails, your organs, and even your mind. And you can lose weight, too! Studies show that you could lose 5 lbs in a year by just upping your water intake around a liter a day.
    • Part of the reason behind the weight loss is that drinking water keeps you full, but drinking cold water also ups your metabolism. In fact, drinking cold water (17 ounces, to be precise) can up your metabolism by up to 30% for 10-40 minutes. So get icy with your workout and you could burn even more calories.
