Brazil court orders 48-hour WhatsApp block
A Brazilian court has ordered cellular service providers nationwide to block the popular WhatsApp smartphone application for two days until midnight Saturday, in a move roundly denounced by parent company
Facebook.
The unprecedented 48-hour blockage served to implement a Sao Paulo state court order that had requested WhatsApp cooperate in a criminal investigation.
Authorities say they cannot disclose details of the criminal investigation because it is an ongoing case.
WhatsApp is causing a headaches to Brazil’s telecoms because it offers a free alternative to the country’s high cell phone rates, especially for youths and the poor.
The blockage took effect at midnight (0200 GMT) Thursday but it was not immediately clear if service providers would follow the order.
Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg said “we are working hard to get this block reversed.”
“This is a sad day for Brazil,” he said, noting the country’s history of support for an open Internet.
“I am stunned that our efforts to protect people’s data would result in such an extreme decision by a single judge to punish every person in Brazil who uses WhatsApp.”
He urged the court to “quickly reverse course” and asked Brazilians to echo that call.
Zuckerberg also recommended that users turn to Facebook Messenger in the meantime.
The court said WhatsApp had been asked several times to cooperate in a criminal investigation, but had repeatedly failed to comply.
A judge in Piaui state had tried but failed earlier this year to block the app.
Instant messaging service Telegram, backed by Russian entrepreneur Pavel Durov, said it had registered some 1.5 million new users in several hours due to the blockage.
“1,500,000 and counting, SMS-Gateways overloading. Hang on, your codes are coming! We’ve got all hands on deck to accommodate the crazy load,” it said on Twitter.

Court orders Nigerian secret police to free Biafra separatist, detention sparked protests
ABUJA, Nigeria – A Federal High Court has ordered Nigeria's secret police to immediately release the leader of a separatist Biafra group — a cause that led to a civil war that killed a million people in the 1960s.
Lawyer Vincent Obeta told The Associated Press that the State Security Service had not complied with the order by late Thursday. The prosecution argued for more time to prepare for trial and that a man facing charges of terrorism and financing terrorism is a flight risk.

17 Things You Should Definitely Know Before You Sleep With Her By Alice Carter
1. How to spell her name. Why? Because it seems
rather gross to go to bed with someone whose name
you don’t know, don’t you think?
2. Whether she has a boyfriend (or girlfriend) or not.
Do you really want to be that guy who cheats with a
girl? Yes I know she sucks for doing this in a
relationship, but so do you if you know.
3. That any variation of “I don’t do this often” has a
50/50 chance of her actually telling you the truth. You
really might be the guy she’s choosing to do new
things with. Then again, she might just be lying. No
sure-fire way to figure this one out.
4. How drunk she is. Look, it’s really not that hard for
all you guys who can’t seem to understand this thing
called “consent.” If she’s too drunk, she can’t give
you consent. Also, silence is not consent. What kind of
creep tries to have sex with a girl who is so drunk
that she doesn’t know what’s going on?

5. HOW OLD SHE IS. I DO NOT NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS
ONE, DO I?
6. That she’s someone’s daughter and you should
treat her with respect. That she’s a person and you
should treat her with respect. But seriously, do you
want someone to one day bang your daughter if they
don’t respect her?
7. Whether or not she’s on her period. Some girls are
cool with period sex. Some girls are not. And for some
girls, it depends. Either way, don’t assume anything.
8. What this sexual experience might mean to her. If
you know a girl might like you more than you like
her, do yourself a favor and don’t sleep with her. It’s
not cool.
9. What YOU want from this sexual experience. Don’t
play games with her. Don’t play games with yourself.
10. Whether you’ll find each other more attractive if
you in the words of the Janet Jackson song, “wait a
while.”
11. Any potential diseases she might have. In an age
where everyone is banging everything that moves,
forgetting that there are full-time, lifetime diseases
that are still possible, it is better to 1.) Ask and 2.)
Look for yourself. (Also, if you have any diseases,
make sure she knows!)
12. What sex means to her. It’s important to know the
value someone places on sex. I mean if she is
practically yanking your pants off while you’re in
public (and she’s not drunk), she probably thinks it’s
just like eating a bagel. If she talks about waiting,
maybe she genuinely wants to wait. Don’t get in the
way of that by enticing her.
13. What she absolutely will not do. Don’t get upset
when you try to pull a move and she looks at you like
you’re crazy. Some people don’t do certain things and
honestly, you should probably know that before you
jump in the sack.
14. That she’s going to think about you regardless of
how far you go with her. If you do anything remotely
sexual, she’s going to think about it and you for a
while.
15. That she is a woman and you are a man, and any
time the two of you have sex, there is a possibility of
her falling pregnant. Don’t want to be a baby daddy?
Look out for her and yourself. (Sorry, sex is so much
less fun when we think of the consequences, isn’t it?)
16. Whether she’s only having sex because she thinks
you’ll love her, be her boyfriend, etc. I know it may
be hard to walk away from someone offering you free
sex but this is still a douchebag move. Plus you’ll let
out her crazy.
17. That no matter what she says, how much she likes
sex and all that jazz, if she is literally being
penetrated by you, and you and her are inside each
other – then her emotional and mental well-being will
always be involved as well. Always.

BIAFRA AGITATION TURNING INTO A NATIONAL CONUNDRUM.
Until today, I have seen, heard and read about BIAFRA and
her agitating Youths, but would get confused the more. Thisis owing to the fact that some commentators have reached
the conclusion that, the agitators are jobless miscreants,
missionless youths, hired crowd, sponsored fools, defeated
people and all worth not.
I was interestingly but painfully flabbergasted today as I
personally witnessed the mammoth crowd at the Onitsha
Bridge Head. It was Interesting in the sense that I saw a well
organized group. I saw a non violent youths. I saw matured,
coordinated , reasonable and responsible adults as part of
the agitators. I saw an over 3,000 youths who were so
cohesive determined, and committed to their course. I saw
the level of partnership that sandwich the youths, Traders,
Market Women and sundry individuals of "Biafra" extraction.
However, I painfully observed that these youths, despite
whatever they may have been described as, May have been
misunderstood, or that they are being labeled as such by way
of giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it. As we have
consciously found ourselves into Democracy, It is
commonsensical to allow any person or group of persons who
agitate for one issue or another provided that such agitation
are carried out within the provisions of our constitution and
most importantly when the agitation is violent free.
The Onitsha bridge head peaceful protesters today showed
the world that they are not after any other frivolous
interest but have their Leader, Nnamdi Kalu released
unconditionally, and more importantly, be allowed self
determination.
I was impressed by the attitude and disposition of the
Nigerian Military who were on ground for any eventuality, or
if you like, had the order to deal ruthlessly with the
protesters. If the later was their mission, then they were so
disappointed as the Soldiers who frustratingly managed to be
around were "respectfully" guided out of the scene as the
Soldiers complied without hesitation, right from the Asaba
end to Onitsha entry point of the Bridge Head. All
passengers irrespective of status stayed immovable with their
vehicles except passengers who could not muster indefinite
patience as they trekked some good distance to board
alternative transport to their various destinations.
It is my humble opinion that these agitators be given an
urgent attention to listen out, to their grievances and to
provide solutions as soon as possible because, the issue has
gone beyond political gimmickry. Let this not be treated with
ignominy as the Federal government should only be sensitive
hereof, as the protesters promised to continue on this
seeming nightmare for three(3) consecutive days. A stitch in
time saves nigh!

BREAKING!!! Sen Yerima to Buhari: Biafra Struggle is Legitimate; Calls For Referendum
Amidst a renewed agitation by pro-Biafra protesters across
the South east and South south parts of the country with
the subsequent clamp down on them by the Federal
Government, a former governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad
Sani Yerima, has said that the Biafra agitators were on a
legitimate struggle for self determination DAILYTIMES
reports.
The former governor, now a Senator, told newsmen that
consequently, the federal government and the security
agencies must allow them to exercise their fundamental
human rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.

Yerima, a politician known for his radical views on
national issues, cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari
and the Nigeria Armed Forces against the use of force
on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the
Movement for the Survival of the Sovereign State of
Biafra ( MASSOB), saying the groups were on a
legitimate struggle for self-determination and should be
allowed to exercise their fundamental rights.

He disagreed with President Buhari and the top echelon
of the Nigeria Armed Forces on the handling of the
renewed agitation by the groups to revive the defunct
Republic of Biafra saying they should be more matured
and accommodating in a democracy.
Yarima, who was speaking in Abuja said it was wrong for
people to classify the agitators who have been campaigning
for the revival of the defunct Republic of Biafra as
secessionist because they have legitimate rights under the
Nigerian Constitution to express their views on any issue.

Police, Army Bullets with Bare Hands (Shocking Video)
He said that rather than treat the agitators as rebels who
must be forced to either remain in Nigeria or be crushed,
the Federal Government should find out why the
agitation has been growing by the day.
In recent weeks, there have been a series of public
demonstrations across the five states of the South-East
geo- political zone as well as spreading into Delta and Rivers
states in the South- South geo- political zone. In the wake of
the mass rallies, President Buhari had warned the groups
that he would not tolerate actions that could lead to the
dismemberment of the country.

On the strength of that pronouncement, the Nigeria Armed
Forces has also issued warnings to the agitators to bury their
dreams of having a separate country or be prepared to face
the full weight of the military. But Yarima argued that
though he believed in the unity of Nigeria, the agitators
should be allowed to express their views freely.
According to him, there should be no compulsion in a
democracy and the Indigenous People of Biafra must not
be compelled to belong to Nigeria. He said that rather
than use force to subdue the agitators, the Federal
Government could hold a referendum in the region to
ascertain if it is the wish of the majority of the people to
pull out of Nigeria and form a new country.
“These are people that want self determination. They
believe that they are homogeneous in terms of tribe,
language and culture and they want to live together and
have their own community.

“In the end, you see, this is politics. I don’t believe in using
force to make them succumb, submit or follow Nigeria and to
stay in Nigeria”, he stressed.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Army relying on the
military Rule of Engagement for internal security operations,
recently warned the pro- Biafra agitators to desist from
holding rallies in different towns and cities as the military
had powers under the constitution to suppress any act
insurrection or civil disobedience.
Following allegations of killings of Igbo in some parts of the
north, Nigeria went to war in 1967 when the then Military
Governor of the defunct Eastern Region, Col. Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu declared the birth of Republic of Biafra
from Nigeria. The war raged for 30 months leaving deaths
and destruction in its wake before the secessionists
surrendered.
